About Julia

Here's what you might like to know about me. My name is Julia and I'm a Christian. I love the Bible and, much less importantly, a good steak. My goal with this site is to share the truth of scripture with believer and non-believer alike, and to specifically encourage believers to study and know the Bible, and warn them of false teachings in and around the church. Romans 1:16-17 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith."

A Beneficial Discussion of Sola Scriptura

As promised, I will attempt to discuss Sola Scriptura today. It will not be in any way exhaustive. Primarily I want to point you toward a very helpful sermon/podcast/Q&A between Phil Johnson and Pastor John MacArthur on the subject.

From Team Pyro: Blackaby’s Non Sola Scriptura

The protestant departure from Sola Scriptura, the principle that the Scriptures alone provide all the truth needed to find salvation and to grow in godliness, has troubled me for some time. I find it at the root of many false … Continue reading

Facing Suffering – 1 Peter 4

Yesterday, an elder in my church preached from 1 Peter 4 and I benefited so much from it, I wanted to share the passage with all of you today. There’s a lot to unpack in here about how to be prepared to … Continue reading

Confessions of a Former Worship Leader

Reblogged from The Number Kevin: Corporate worship, about two years ago I walked away from it. Praise music on Sundays, youth on Wednesdays—after years and years, I said goodbye to it all. I didn’t loose faith, nor did I sin my … Continue reading

Marcia Montenegro Regarding One Thousand Gifts – by Ann Voskamp

I haven’t read One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, but I am well aware of its popularity. In fact, I saw it in the hands of a sister-in-Christ very recently. If you have read it or are considering reading it … Continue reading

The Shaming of Non-Radical Christians?

Dr. Anthony Bradley, an associate professor at King’s College and an Acton Institute research fellow, wrote a thought-provoking piece on May 1 called: The New Legalism: Missional, Radical, Narcissistic, and Shamed. It seems to have struck a nerve and I have … Continue reading

Grace in disappointment

There are days when I throw my hands up and say, “Lord, I really don’t know what you’re doing with my life.” Thankfully, in those moments I still know that He knows what He’s doing.
