Christians – Let’s Not Do This

I’ve made my views about homosexuality clear in a prior post about Andy Stanley, noting that the Bible clearly labels it a sin (in the Old and New Testaments) along with other forms of sexual sin and in addition to a long list of non-sexual sins (envy, greed, slothfulness, idolatry, etc). We must stand true to the Word of God, but when it comes to how to discuss this topic the pastor in this video is just hateful. We need to be willing to tell each and every sinner regardless of which sins they are guilty of that grace is available to them if they will repent (to turn away) and trust in Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross. That’s the beauty of the gospel and the incredible love God has shown toward sinners: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Let each of us who has been saved by grace remember that we were under the same condemnation and have been set free. Let us remember that we too are sinners in need of our great Savior. If you need reminding go reread Romans 3 and pay special attention to verse 23: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

I found this video yesterday after a CNN producer tweeted it. So it is only a matter of time before the news media (in fact it may already be making its rounds) uses this to portray Christians as bigots once again. Things like this hurt the reputation of every Christian, even those who would consider this to be completely unacceptable. Fellow Christians, let’s not do this:
