Summer is here

It’s Friday and Memorial Day weekend! That means summer has finally arrived. It also means I’ll be offline for the extended weekend celebrating my birthday with family out in a cottage on a lake.

The area surrounding Coudersport is known for ...

The area surrounding Coudersport is known for some of the darkest skies in the east. Erie is the closest major city, 2 hours away. There was a full moon this night or even more stars would be seen. Got 15 minutes of 30″ exposures until condensation started to form. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I’m looking forward to fishing, swimming, boating and seeing my parents, brother and grandmother very much. But there’s another thing I love about being out in the country that I can’t do in the city — stargazing. Looking up at the night sky always has always make me think about God and how incredible He must be to have made this earth and everything up in the sky. It also calls to my mind Psalm 19 (ESV):

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above[a] proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice[b] goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

The law of the Lord is perfect,[c]
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules[d] of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Have a great weekend everybody. I’ll be back in a few days.

About Julia

Here's what you might like to know about me. My name is Julia and I'm a Christian. I love the Bible and, much less importantly, a good steak. My goal with this site is to share the truth of scripture with believer and non-believer alike, and to specifically encourage believers to study and know the Bible, and warn them of false teachings in and around the church. Romans 1:16-17 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith."
