What I’m Reading – September (and a Giveaway)

At the end of each month I try to post an update of the books I’ve started or finished and a bit of what I’ve thought about them. Here is that update, with a twist (keep reading to find out more).

Crucifying Morality by R.W. Glenn

As I’ve said before, this book was helpful and a little surprising. I already shared five things you’ll learn if you decide to read it.

Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet Spy by Eric Metaxas

This is a good book, it just has a tremendous amount of information to digest. So I’m reading it slowly.

Scripture Alone by Dr. James White

If you’ve read my blog for very long, you’ll see I affirm the doctrine of Sola Scriptura. I’ve done my best to defend it here at Steak and a Bible and try to direct you to much smarter people’s defenses as well. Due to my interest in the subject, I recently started reading Dr. James White’s, Scripture Alone. Unlike some theology books, White’s primer is very readable.

I think this is one of the most important issues Christians wrestle with so I think it is high time for another giveaway!

To win a copy of Scripture Alone leave a comment on this blog post or tweet at me (@steakandabible) saying you want to win a copy between now and Friday at noon EST. The contest will end at noon October 4. I will draw a random winner and announce next week.

Also, I’d really appreciate your help telling people about this giveaway so please direct them to this post or RT me on twitter. Thanks!

About Julia

Here's what you might like to know about me. My name is Julia and I'm a Christian. I love the Bible and, much less importantly, a good steak. My goal with this site is to share the truth of scripture with believer and non-believer alike, and to specifically encourage believers to study and know the Bible, and warn them of false teachings in and around the church. Romans 1:16-17 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith."

I see John is teasing me and suggesting my giveaway is mere bribery. What I actually want is for people to read awesome books instead of “Christian” drivel. If I happen to expand my readership then so be it. 🙂
