I want to share something with all of you. I hope it encourages and reminds you that God is faithful and so very good to his children.
The end of the year was difficult for me. In addition to the typical holiday frenzy (which I happen to love), I was roommate hunting. DC area living is very expensive so I do not live alone and one of my housemates had given us notice they would leaving by the end of the year. We began searching and time and again disappointment was the result. The emotional roller coaster ride of hope and disappointment hit me hard and the stress of it all was crushing at times.
People kept telling me it would all work out. That was honestly the most irritating thing in the world to hear.
January 1 came and went, and still, no housemate to shoulder one-third of the rent. Not even someone in process.
The housemate interviews continued and we continued to pray (as we had been throughout November and December) that God would provide a housemate.
Not quite two weeks ago, I was doing some budgeting and it dawned on me that even though God had not yet provided a Christian girl to move in with us, he had more than amply supplied for my financial needs and the burden of the extra rent. It shouldn’t have taken me that long to realize it and for the wave of gratitude and thanksgiving to hit, but it did.
Just over a week ago, a great Christian woman that had seen our place asked to be our new housemate and the paperwork is being drawn up.
I still don’t know why God didn’t choose to provide a housemate on our schedule. Perhaps I never will. But I do know that he was, is, and always will be faithful and I’m thankful for that.
