New Release: “Women of the Word”

Jen Wilkin’s book, “Women of the Word: How to study the Bible with both our hearts and our minds,” has just been released by Crossway and it has made into my latest list of books to start reading. Wilkin is passionate about teaching women how to study the Bible and that thrills me.

I can't wait to read this! Sorry for the strange shadows cast by my kitchen window though.

I can’t wait to read this! Sorry for the strange shadows cast by my kitchen window though.

I’m particularly excited to learn how to study the Bible better for myself and so I can pass that knowledge on. I’ve only just begun the book, but loved these remarks and wanted to share it:

“Learning firsthand the painful fallout of wrong teaching sparked in me a desire to know for myself what the Bible taught … But I didn’t know where to begin to fix the problem.”

“[T]he task seemed overwhelming. Where was I supposed to start? And why weren’t the things I was already doing making the problem discernibly better? How was I supposed to move the mountain of my biblical ignorance? The answer, of course, was gloriously simple. The answer was ‘one spoonful at a time.’ Thankfully, someone gave me a spoon.”

Wilkin is now passing the spoons around and encouraging us all to start digging. I don’t know about you, but I’m in.

About Julia

Here's what you might like to know about me. My name is Julia and I'm a Christian. I love the Bible and, much less importantly, a good steak. My goal with this site is to share the truth of scripture with believer and non-believer alike, and to specifically encourage believers to study and know the Bible, and warn them of false teachings in and around the church. Romans 1:16-17 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith."

Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. I have wasted my money on false teachers, or useless books in the past. I don’t enjoy supporting the garbage or wasting money. I had this on my audible wish list to check out. I’m excited to start listening!
