Don’t Miss List: Dr. Brantly Survives Ebola, Good Samaritan Sermons and More

It’s been a long and crazy week here. I couldn’t post at the beginning of the week because I was out of town visiting cousins that live on the West Coast and rarely get to see. We went hiking and I ate way too much ice cream. It was wonderful.

But I’m back and here are some of the things that caught my eye this week.

‘A Miraculous Day’ – Samaritan’s Purse

Ebola is often a deadly disease. But there was great news this week that Dr. Kent Brantly survived and was released from the hospital. Brantly praised God and called it a “miraculous day.”

The Good Samaritan Parable Sermon Cage Fight – Fighting for the Faith

This is definitely worth listening to. One of these sermons is the best exegesis I’ve heard of this passage from the gospel of Luke. The other, well, one of the worst. Check out this cage fight.

21 Former Pastors Bring Charges Against Driscoll – Warren Throckmorton

The latest development in the Mars Hill/Mark Driscoll scandal. It is good to see people standing up against spiritual abuse, but we should not rejoice such disturbing behavior. Instead we should pray for Driscoll to repent and resign.

No ‘Christian Yoga:’ a former New Ager Speaks Out – Lighthouse Trails

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Yoga is a religious practice and not a Christian one. But don’t take my word for it, listen to what one former New Ager has to say about it.

Lastly, this weekend I’ll be attending the International Lindy Hop Championships. This video from last year will give you a glimpse of the incredible dancing I’ll get to witness (and participate in) the next few days. This is a video of the pros competing. I am no where near that good.

About Julia

Here's what you might like to know about me. My name is Julia and I'm a Christian. I love the Bible and, much less importantly, a good steak. My goal with this site is to share the truth of scripture with believer and non-believer alike, and to specifically encourage believers to study and know the Bible, and warn them of false teachings in and around the church. Romans 1:16-17 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith."
