About

Welcome to my little corner of the internet: Steak and a Bible. If the name is confusing or just plain silly be sure to read my first post to find out where the inspiration came from.

Here’s what you might like to know about me. My name is Julia and I’m a Christian. I love the Bible and, much less importantly, a good steak. My goal with this site is to share the truth of scripture with believer and non-believer alike, and to specifically encourage believers to study and know the Bible, and warn them of false teachings in and around the church.

Romans 1:16-17 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith.”

Julia, let me start by addressing you in this familiar manner because you did not put your full name on your “review.” That in itself speaks volumns and tells me you you do not fully support your beliefs on this matter and are unwilling to accept any consequences by putting yourself “out there” and standing up for what you do believe. I am a believer in Jesus Christ and His inerrant Word and have been for many years now. I have read “Jesus Calling” and am halfway through “Jesus Today.” I find them comforting and inspiring. They give me peace and a sense of closeness to Jesus. Understand this, Mrs. Young backs everything up with scripture and I have several bibles and commentaries where I check everthing I feel smacks of false teaching. I have not found her writing wanting in this respect. God’s Word is the utimate authority on any subject so you cannt be objecting to the scripture with which she backs her books. Therefore I take it you are objecting to her delivery. After reading your comments I realized you are limiting God’s ability to inspire christians of our day. Inspiration comes in many different forms. Since we are all different God uses different ways to feed us and help us to more fully understand His Word (hence bible studies written by man but inspired by God). I agree that there are many false teachers and false prophets out there today and it will only get worse as the end times draw
nearer. I know you probably meant well but I encourage you to always use God’s Word as the ultimate authority and do not limit God’s ability to inspire His people in different ways. The MacArthur Study Bible has a good note on God inspiring His written Word but also uses their minds, vocabularies and experiences (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Your Friend in Christ, Mikki Twisdale
